How local SEO works with us

Everything that happens from the moment you pay to your sixth monthly report: what we do, what we need from you, how the weekly call runs, and how billing and canceling work. Read this before you pick a plan so there are no surprises.

How Google picks the map pack

When someone in Salt Lake searches "plumber near me" or "roof repair Sandy," Google shows three businesses on a map above the regular results. Most calls go to those three. Google says it picks them using three things:

RelevanceHow well your profile and website match what the person searched for.
DistanceHow close your business is to the person searching.
ProminenceHow well known and trusted you look: reviews, links, mentions and your site.

Nobody can move your address, so distance is fixed. Everything we do is aimed at relevance and prominence. Get those strong enough and you start showing up for people farther from your shop. That's what the geo-grid on our home page measures: how far across the valley your top-three spots reach.

What happens after you sign up

Every client goes through the same steps. Here's what each one involves and how long it takes.

  1. Before you buy (optional)

    Ask us anything

Prices and plans are all on our home page, so most people just pick one. If you'd like to talk first, book a free 15-minute call or email us.

  2. Day 0

    Checkout

Pick a plan, enter your contact and business details, and pay through Stripe. The charge repeats on the same date each month. Right after payment you land on your welcome page.

  3. Days 1–3

Intro call (recommended) or setup form

On the welcome page you book a 30-minute intro call, which we recommend for everyone, and pick a time for your weekly call. You'll also see a setup form with everything we'd ask on that call, broken out by service. If you'd rather type than talk, fill out the whole form and skip the intro call.

You'll invite us as a manager on your Google Business Profile, and on Growth and Leader also to your website, Google Analytics and Search Console. You never send us a password, and you stay the owner of everything.

  4. Week 1

    Starting-point audit

We run geo-grids on your main searches, look at the three businesses beating you and why, check your listings across the major directories, and look over your website for problems. You get a short written starting point that later reports compare against.

  5. Weeks 2–4

    Fix the basics

This is where early gains usually come from. We fix your profile categories, services, description and hours, clean up wrong names, addresses and phone numbers in directories, set up your review requests, and add schema and tracking. On Growth and Leader we also fix the biggest problems on your website.

  6. Months 2–6

    Build reach

We post to your profile every week, keep reviews coming in and answered, and on Growth and Leader write new service and city pages each month and go after links from other Utah sites. Each month's work aims at the parts of the valley where your geo-grid is weakest.

  7. Every month

    Report and plan

You get a fresh geo-grid, the numbers from your profile and site, a list of what we did, and what's next. We go over it on that week's call.

What we need from you

Local SEO works best when the business owner stays a little involved. Plan on about 20 minutes a week, plus a bit more in the first week.

  • Access, once. Manager access to your Google profile, and on Growth and Leader your website and Google accounts. We send step-by-step instructions.
  • Your weekly call. 20 minutes, same time each week.
  • Photos. Real photos of your team, trucks and finished jobs, a few each month. Phone photos are fine.
  • Review asks. We set up the text or email that goes out after each job; your crew just needs to trigger it or tell customers it's coming.
  • Quick approvals. We send new pages and big profile changes for a yes or no before they go live.

Your weekly call

Every plan includes a 20-minute call each week with the person actually doing your work, not a salesperson. It keeps things moving and catches problems early, like a new competitor or a review that needs a careful reply. A typical call goes like this:

5 minWhat we did since last week, with links.
5 minRankings, calls and reviews that changed.
5 minWhat we're doing next, and anything we need from you.
5 minYour questions, new services, busy or slow seasons coming up.

Can't make it one week? Tell us and we'll send the same update by email. If you'd prefer a call every other week, that works too.

Your monthly report

One page, written in plain English. It includes:

  • Your geo-grid for each target search, next to last month's and your starting point
  • Calls, website clicks and direction requests from your Google profile
  • New reviews and your average rating
  • Website visits from Google search, and on Growth and Leader the calls and forms they led to
  • Every task we finished, with links you can check
  • The plan for next month

What changes by plan

All three plans include the weekly call, the monthly report, profile management and reviews. The difference is how much website and link work we do each month.

Not sure which fits? Maps suits a business in a smaller area with a decent website. If competitors in your trade have lots of reviews and strong websites, Growth is the usual starting point. Leader is for crowded trades like HVAC, roofing, legal and dental. You can move up or down a plan from one month to the next.

What we won't do

Some shortcuts get businesses suspended from Google Maps or bring in calls that never turn into jobs. We don't use them.

Fake or paid reviewsThey break Google's rules and can get your profile suspended. We help you get more real ones.
Stuffing keywords into your business name"Joe's Plumbing – Best Plumber Salt Lake" can rank briefly, then get suspended. Your name stays your real name.
Copy-paste city pagesPages that swap only the city name count as spam to Google. Every page we write is about real work in that area.
Promising #1Nobody controls Google. We show you what we did and where you rank every month, and you decide if it's worth it.

Billing and canceling

  • You pay online by card through Stripe. The charge repeats on the same date each month.
  • There's no setup fee and no contract.
  • Each location is its own plan.
  • Switch plans any time; the new price starts on your next billing date.
  • Cancel any time before your next billing date by replying to any email from us or using the billing link in your Stripe receipt. You won't be charged again.
  • When you leave, you keep everything: your Google profile, the pages we wrote, your listings and your reviews. We remove our access and send you a final report.

When you'll see results

Most businesses see the first movement on their geo-grid within 30 to 60 days, mostly from fixing the profile and directory listings. In competitive trades, strong rankings across the whole valley usually take four to six months of steady work. Your weekly calls and monthly reports show you how it's going the whole way.
